Just finished a few touches to a newish project for my Year 8 woodwork class. I found the basic plan a few years ago in an old Makita school resource and used it to help a casual teacher get through a tough patch last year. The students seemed to like it so I used it myself this semester and had some great results. I’ve completed the 3D model using Sketchup and placed it on the 3Dwarehouse for anyone to download, use and modify. The model contains 5 variations on the basic model just click through the scenes. I haven’t been too picky with layers, it’s all pretty basic. The majority of the work is with 19mm and 12mm stock, with a 50mm holw saw for the wheels. I’ll prepare some PDF working drawings soon so stay tuned.

TW20 Dartboard project back online
If you chose TW20 100 hour Timber Technology for next year this is the project that you will complete.
TW04 project now available on 3Dwarehouse
If you are currently working on or thinking of choosing TW04 as an elective in the future, updated plans have been uploaded to the 3D Warehouse. Feel free to download and have a look, edit or change. As this it’s the first time we’ve made this project, I’m still thinking about the drawer making regular changes and evaluation.

F-16 Timber Toy
The second project from our Industrial Technology TW02 Toy Maker unit has gone back onto the 3Dwarehouse. Some students are now sure that this is actually an F-15? Anyway I thought I made an F-16 but feel free to take this model and modify it so it becomes an F-16… or maybe I should just change the file name.
iPod Dock project needs to be revised
Last semesters TW03 iPod Dock was built around the old Apple 30 pin plug /iPod Touch and iPhone 4 but next year many students will want to make it to suit Apple’s new 8 pin plug and larger iPhone/iPod. So time to get in early and make an alternative redesign. I have some Steam codes for the best design made with Sketchup or ProDesktop.

I love this sight! Learning to use Sketchup? Read some articles and do some tutorials you’ll be amazed what this free software can do.
Sketchup models are returning
Our once large collection of Google Sketchup models had to be removed from the 3D warehouse community site earlier in the year. But now I’ve decided to bring them back so keep an eye on this blog for further updates, additions and perhaps some cool student works. The first model to be uploaded is the Timber Jeep project from our Tech Wood 02 Toy Making unit. Click on the picture to get the model.
